Whether at the comfort of your own home or at a restaurant, here are some top tips towards enjoying your bottle (or glass) of wine.
Invest in Quality Glassware
It’s commonly overlooked but makes a real difference. The finest glasses are crafted to bring out the best in a wine, allowing you to fully appreciate the aromas, flavors, and textures. Considering one? The Amelie glass range is our choice, no questions asked.
Mind the Temperature
Before serving wine, make sure it’s at an ideal temperature. Ideal drinking temperature for:
- Red Wines: between 12˚C and 18˚C
- White Wine: between 8˚C and 12˚C
- Champagne / Dessert Wine: between 5˚C and 8˚C

The Perfect Pour
It’s not beer, there’s no need to fill it to the brim. For red wines, these are generally served in larger glasses and filled to just below the widest point. For white wines, use relatively smaller glasses, filled to slightly past the widest point.

Hold the Glass by the Stem
While holding the glass by the bowl may feel more comfortable, one generally holds the glass by the stem. It’s easier to swirl the wine, further releasing its aromas. Avoid warming the chilled wine due to the heat from your palms and importantly, it keeps sticky fingerprints off the glass.
Swirl, sniff and sip
Give your glass of wine a light swirl and get your nose in there to pick out the aromas and flavour compounds. Take a sip of the wine and let it coat your entire palate, ensuring that you experience the full spectrum of flavors and textures that the wine has to offer.
And lastly, have a good time. It’s really just fermented grape juice, isn’t it?
